HOW WE STRUCTURE DOG DAY CARE |
HOW WE STRUCTURE DOG DAY CARE
The dog groups are small and well supervised. We use Dog Whisperer techniques to establish a proper hierarchy with the dogs, which reduces stress, tension and aggression. .
Like all good dog day cares we encourage gentleness, good manners and cooperative social skills. We structure our day care so that your dog will maintain his house training skills, and also improve his city doggie manners. At our facility we motivate the dogs to act respectful of people and other dogs:
- sit for greeting,
- indoor voices during playtime,
- and appropriate responses to simple obedience commands.
Generally, we take the dogs on two group pack walks a day, weather permitting, and during this time we reinforce good Chicago doggie street manners:
- no pulling on the leash,
- no jumping on people,
- and no aggression to other dogs.
If the dog has a suitable temperament, the dog can participate in cage-free naps and overnight slumber parties. Dogs that have need more supervision and structure may be crated during nap times and overnight stays. We have limo service for pick-up's and drop-offs for an additional fee.
AN INTERNATIONAL DOG EXPERT'S OPINION |
TURID RUGASS ON A WELL RUN DOG DAY CARE
-Yes, I think a doggy daycare is a good solution sometimes, IF they are well run. Which means NOT playing all day and have(ing) to be in big groups the whole time. That will be too much for any dog.
- Playtime in small groups.
- Different fenced in areas to investigate.
- Time-out resting.
- Small walks with staff, just a few at at time, or even better one by one. Just playing all the time is too much and creates a lot of stress-
