programs, and at special events both locally and abroad as a dog behavior
specialist.
Who I Am Ami Moore, the Dog Whisperer of
Chicago sm, author, lecturer, pediatric occupational therapist,
adult education instructor has made educating pet parents and training dogs her
avocation for more than three decades.
Once, when asked what was the philosophical common
ground between two such opposite occupations, Ami replied, "It doesn't matter
if you are talking about a nonverbal, withdrawn, autistic child, or a
fear-aggressive Rottweiler, you've got to meet them where they are, in order to
take them where you want them to go."
My company, Doggie Do Right 911, Inc. consists of two
areas of specialization. One arm is devoted to obedience training, and the
other is devoted to dog behavior rehabilitation. Our dog rehabilitation
program has two options, the first chocie is the Therapeutic Pack, where dogs
heal dogs. The second option is our Doggie Fat Camp, where we take in dogs that
are overweight that have behavior problems, and we help them get fit as we
psychologically rebalance them.
Student's ask me why I train my dogs, I tell them that
"From my point of view, I train because I am very, very lazy and I want to go
where I want, when I want; and I want to take my dogs with me when I go."
And then, I always add, "Training dogs, my personal
dogs, equals freedom for for them. I want my dogs to have a beautiful life;
from a dog's point of view. For a dog that means he has someone to follow,
something to do and somewhere to go."
From what I have seen, "Dogs that live their lives
tied to a tree or exiled to a yard behind a wooden fence or an electric fence
are dogs that have ugly lives. From a dog's point of view, it is like being in
Hell."
| THE NATIONAL
HOLIDAY: URBAN EDEN DAY |
It is our mission to assist in finding resolutions for
canine behavior problems that could lead to the relinquishing or euthanasia of
a families' pet dog. We instruct owners how to communicate with their dogs in
the dog's natural language, and how to fulfill the dog's first and most
pressing need: Leadership.
We specialize in canine psychology and the use of
scientific principles to change the behavior of the first the dog, and then the
owner.
We teach the owner how to implement the four key
aspects of our program: Amiability, Alpha-tude, Activity and Affection, in the
proper sequence and combination so that their dog becomes a beloved and valued
member of their family and community.
Our vision is to help make the City of Chicago as
friendly and welcoming to dogs as the great cities of Europe. We believe that
the best way to achieve this goal is to help develop a population of dogs that
are mannerly and respectful, on-leash or off-leash, no matter where they are in
the city.
And hopefully, one day, with the help of the Mayor,
well-mannered, well-trained dogs can accompany their owners into every
restaurant, bar, hotel, store and building in the city.
THE CHALLENGE
We challenge other trainers to
strive to attain a standard as great as our own, and to that end we have
created "The K9 Training Challenge" with a cash prize of
$10,000.00 to be awarded to the trainer who achieves the most effective,
efficient and impressive behavior modification and training results with a
randomly selected group of dogs.
