NEW YORK and ST. CHARLES, Mon., Dec 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / –The AKC National Championship presented by Royal CaninÂ® airs on ABC as a three-hour special Sunday January 2, 2022 at the 2 p.m. ET. The show features thousands of dogs from across the country and around the world competing for the coveted title of National Champion of the United States.
The broadcast is hosted by the AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo and well-known sports presenter Carolyn Manno. This year’s AKC National Championship is the largest dog show in North America with 5,051 registered dogs from 50 states and Washington, DC and 13 countries. This in combination with competitions in agility, obedience, the National Owner-Handled Series Finals, diving dogs, junior competitions and AKC Fast CAT brings the total number of registrations to over 8,500. Dogs compete for multiple titles at different events and more than $ 150,000 The world’s largest dog show in terms of prize money.

Organized by Carolyn Manno and Mike Janella, The Royal Canin Puppy Pre-Show takes viewers through a series of fun and whimsical events that will test any dog’s puppy behavior! Entrants will be judged on multiple categories including puppy play time, agility, and the great miles-ish. In addition to being entertaining to watch, these tests are educational for the home viewer who wants to learn more about the entire AKC National Championship.
