Australia’s most popular dog names for 2022 are revealed

Maltese crossbreeds and Labradors took second and third place, the same positions as in 2021.

Pet insurance brand HCF has also revealed that the name “Charlie” is the favorite among pooch owners, closely followed by Coco and Bella.

Other popular names this year included Ruby, Max, Luna, Molly, Buddy, Daisy and Frankie.

Cavoodle prices have soared to an all-time high over the past 10 years, particularly around 2020 when people were asking for a puppy of their own due to lockdowns.

What used to cost around $800, Cavoodle puppies in Australia can now cost anywhere from $4,500 to $8,000 depending on the breeder.

After the top three dog breeds, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier remained a popular choice alongside the Golden Retriever, Spoodle, Border Collie, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Groodle.

A survey conducted by HCF found that 57 percent of dog owners say their pup makes them happier than any other family member.

And 29 percent of married dog owners would rather share the bed with their pup than with their spouse, and 36 percent of dog owners with children feed their children food they don’t feel is healthy enough for their puppies.

Lorraine Thomas, HCF Chief Officer Product and Diversified Business, said the survey results show how integrated dogs are into Australian families.

“Pets bring great comfort to their owners and can also provide so many health benefits, from a good reason to get out and go for a walk, to a soothing companion that lends an ear and almost never answers,” Ms. Thomas said .

“We cannot deny our love for pets in Australia, so the priority of the health and well-being of our family should be extended to our four-legged members as well.”
