BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Heather Wegner, CPDT-KSA, professional dog trainer and owner of CoolWag doggy daycare in Northwest Arkansas, recently received advanced professional certification from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.
According to a press release, this accomplishment makes her one of five people to have achieved this level of dog training certification in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Recipients of this certification demonstrate the skills required to train dogs and teach people how to train their dogs through exercises that are recorded and scored by a panel.
Certification also provides an independent measure of an individual’s practical understanding of the field of dog training, including training skills, instructional skills, training equipment, and the application of modalities. Recipients must also continue their education to maintain their credentials and ensure that recipients continue their personal development and apply current science and techniques to their clients.
They are also responsible for complying with CCPDT’s Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics and LIMA Guidelines for Effective Behavioral Interventions.
