Dog helps nurse heal abandoned kitten in heartwarming video

A little black dog named Jelly has touched animal lovers emotionally after a video of her helping to care for an abandoned kitten was shared online.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, up to 3.2 million cats are given up each year. However, that number doesn’t take into account the countless cats and kittens that are simply abandoned on the streets to fend for themselves.

Many of these cats don’t get second chances in life, but some lucky ones do. One of those cats is a black and white cat named Miracle.

In a video posted to TikTok by Ariana Sanchez of Arizona, viewers were taken through the story of how Miracle was nursed back to health with a little help from another four-legged friend. It can be viewed here.

The video has obviously struck a chord with cat lovers on social media and has been viewed 5 million times online at the time of writing.

In the clip, Sanchez explains that she found the kitten “dragging herself” on the “hot concrete road with traffic rolling by on her.”

After saving her from certain death, she took the little kitten home with her. Sanchez said she later found out the kitty was only two days old and needed bottle feedings every two hours.

However, she stuck to her task, with a little help from Jelly, who in the video helps keep the vulnerable kitty warm in a blanket.

“Both me and my dog raised this little miracle,” she explains in the clip.

The footage then switches to the heartwarming moment when the kitten, later christened Miracle, opens both eyes to the world around her for the first time.

It’s a moment that gets even more special seconds later when Jelly comes over to give Miracle a series of loving licks, with her feline companion obviously loving the attention. As Sanchez puts it, “She was so proud of her.”

The video then jumps in time to Miracle looking a little healthier and happier, climbing up Sanchez’s leg and also playing with Jelly.

Jelly and Miracle are then shown snuggled together on Sanchez’s lap, with the kitten licking an ear of her handler. “You are so loved baby girl,” Sanchez wrote at the end of the video.

A touching story that showcases a truly unique bond between a cat and a dog, and animal lovers were quick to praise Sanchez and Jelly for the role they played in giving Miracle a second chance. “You and your pup make a great team!” ee10272021 said. “Thanks for rescuing the kitten.”

Tracyreneeeck was similarly effusive in her praise of Jelly, writing, “Her pup adopted her like a good mama.” Itsnikkiyeah commented, “I love that your dog loves the baby so much,” to which Sanchez replied, “Without her would have I didn’t make it.”

Bella Conte was emotional as Jelly kept Miracle warm by pulling a blanket over her in the video. “I thought my heart was going to melt!” she wrote, and Sanchez replied, “Sameee my heart burst just witnessing this!”

Payden.Kegley felt it was almost as if Jelly was saying, “This is my kid now” after Miracle came into her life. Plenty of tears were shed over the footage as one user who posted what Amanda Williams put it “sobbed over your dog’s relationship with her.”

In a follow-up video, Sanchez gave fans another look at Miracle and Jelly happily playing together. This clip can be viewed Here.

Video shows how Jelly Miracle helped teach walking, how to touch noses or give each other “all the boops”. Most cutely, the video shows the couple regularly sleeping next to each other.

news week has reached out to Sanchez for comment.

In September 2021, a dog nursing a litter of puppies melted hearts after adopting a stray kitten as part of the family. In April of the same year, a dog also went viral on Twitter after rescuing a kitten left in the rain.
