The American Kennel Club® (AKC) brings this educational event to Columbus to give attendees a unique opportunity to meet and play with a variety of different dog breeds while learning directly from the experts about responsible pet ownership and how to find the best breed(s) for their lifestyle. The event is sponsored by YuMOVE, the official joint canine supplement of the American Kennel Club, The Farmer’s Dog and Nationwide®. From Affenpinschers to Yorkshire Terriers, this canine extravaganza is fun for the whole family.
Participants can:
- meet and play with tons of different dog breeds in stalls depicting each breed’s country of origin, historical purpose/function
- Discover new breeds and speak to breed experts to determine which dog is right for their lifestyle
- To learn about responsible animal husbandry
- See fun and entertaining dog sport demonstrations and working dogs showing off their skills
- engage with unique activities like testing your agility skills in our interactive fun zone. Participants can also take part in games and photo opportunities with the whole family.

Not only will you be able to meet and play with many different dog breeds, but there will also be exciting demonstrations that highlight canine athleticism and work ethic, including:
- agility – Watch these super talented dogs navigate an obstacle course filled with jumps, weaves and tunnels, courtesy of the Columbus All Breed Training Club.
- obedience – Watch the precision work of competitive obedience dogs as they heel, retrieve and demonstrate how dogs can progress from the basics to higher skills brought to you by the Columbus All Breed Training Club.
- disc dog – Enjoy this fast-paced, fun sport that takes retrieval to a whole new level, presented by Southern Ohio Flying K9s.
- rally – Check out this exciting sport that combines equal parts skill and thrill as dogs and their owners complete a course of obedience challenges courtesy of the Columbus All Breed Training Club.
- fragrance work – The nose knows it! See how dogs use their natural abilities to locate an scent and tell their handler it’s been found, presented by the Columbus All Breed Training Club.
- protecting our community – Meet members of the Mansfield Police Department’s K-9 unit and watch their incredible skills in action!
- AKC Trick Dog – These are no ordinary trickster dogs! Watch these four-legged companions perform tricks like crawling on the floor, walking on their hind legs, dancing and more, courtesy of the Columbus All Breed Training Club.
There will also be plenty of activities for children of all ages, including:
- AKC patch program – an interactive scavenger hunt designed to teach kids about purebred dogs.
- fun and games – Kids can play Plinko, take selfies in the dedicated selfie area, paint and craft, and visit the mini shop with plush toys and more!
- Art competition winner – View artworks created by students in the area Columbus who are the finalists and winners of AKC’s art competition.
