“Fitness Guru,” Comedian Poundstone Returns To Tucson To Make Up For The Lost 2020 Date | entertainment

“I think being a fitness guru might be a bit of an exaggeration,” she said with her typical nasal giggle.

When she takes the Fox stage on Thursday, she may just be showing off her new-found upper body strength and torn abs.

Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration.

Her Fox concert is a makeup from her 2020 Tucson date that has been canceled due to the pandemic. Many of Poundstones’ shows from last summer and throughout the year were makeup dates from COVID-canceled shows, she said.

Poundstone was in Aspen, Colorado when the land was locked down in March 2020. Her show was canceled and she remembered being at the airport, “and it was like hearing a pin drop, it was so quiet”.

At first she thought the pandemic would be over in a few weeks and that life would resume continuously.

“And then began to write on the wall that I was unemployed,” she said and then mumbled: “That is associated with a certain amount of stress.”

Poundstone turned the Internet, sponsored her podcast “Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone,” launched a series of goofy virtual game shows on Sunday night, and as the 2020 campaign got hot, created a mini-podcast titled “French President Trump.”

“My friends played the press and I was French President Trump,” she said of the short-lived series. “I can’t make a Trump impression, but I can put a really wrong French accent.”
