A dog owner who lost his beloved pet earlier this year was surprised with a souvenir video of his pooch after his groomer put footage of his appointments.
Vanessa De Prophetis, who runs Perfect Pooches from her home in Niagara Falls, Canada, shares clips of her four-legged customers on her TikTok and YouTube page @girlwithedogs.
De Prophetis uploaded a clip last week, but it was different from their usual content as it was a tribute video to the late Tucker.
The groomer not only shared it with their channel, but also sent the clip to its grieving owners.
The video shows Tucker receiving his usual care, as De Prophetis said in the voiceover: “Unfortunately, Tucker’s owners lost him in August. But what they don’t know is that I made a souvenir video for them.
“He was a 13 year old Shih Tzu that I saw for six weeks. He always came out as my first dog of the day so he and I had some bonding time.
“He was the greatest of all boys, and he always sang his people’s song to me while I was blow drying. Thanks for the morning wake-up call, Tucker. “
In the footage, Tucker can be heard making a noise somewhere between a growl and a wail.
De Prophetis continued, “He always got the same haircut, I pulled his body down in a three-quarter and the top of his head with a 5 to 20 inch comb. I shave the balls of his paws and he wasn’t the biggest fan of his nail clip.
“He had the perfect little Shih Tzu face that I would fold into a round ball of fluff. I brush his ears and then I spray him in our Jelly Bean Cologne. Tucker will be missed forever. “
It’s cut to show the owners, a man and a woman, watching the video with smiles on their faces.
“That’s so damn good,” says one, while the other raves: “That’s perfect.”
The clip, released on December 14, garnered more than 200,000 views on YouTube as other dog owners were moved from the memorial as well.
Nailah commented, “I’m sitting here with my 12 year old Shih Tzu crying. What a beautiful gesture of yours, you can see what joy they have brought them. “
LB said, “You can see the love on the faces of Tucker’s parents when they saw this video. Such a cute memorial.”
Emily gushed, “This is so cute. What a nice thing for the owners!”
Alexandria Mitchell admitted, “I didn’t intend to be hit by the feelings today. That’s so sweet of you! “
While Trevor Moses added, “Bless yourself for doing this for the little dog and his family.”
Unfortunately, although they are man’s best friend, dogs do not exist all of our lives. Dog lifespans vary by breed, with animals living around 11 years old.
According to the website PetMD.com, a Shih Tzu lives around 13 years, other breeds like a Great Dane only live an average of seven years, while a Miniature Poodle can live up to 14 years.
“We can deal with the clutter and other temporary annoyances; it is the indisputable fact that humans live longer than dogs that eventually move most owners to tears,” they noted.
News week asked De Prophetis for a comment.
