Heroic firefighters rescue unconscious dog from EHT house fire


No people were injured, but a dog is said to be recovering from a two-alarm house fire in the Egg Harbor community on Saturday.

Members of the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company say they responded to the 4000 block on Ivins Avenue in the Cardiff section of Egg Harbor Township. Heavy fire and smoke was seen pouring from a house and a second alarm was triggered.

They say, “Firefighters went straight to work, put out the fire and searched the apartment. An unconscious dog was located and taken out of the apartment.”

The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic by the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company and was last in stable condition.

A cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

They say, “We are determined to interact and get involved with our community, especially the younger residents, to give them tips and tricks on fire safety and prevention.
