Latest releases from Amazon and Peloton

This story is part of Select’s New & Notable column, where we highlight our most popular launches, notable sales, our purchases and some of our latest recommendations and advice.

This week we have more Amazon products – this time from the Fire line – as well as a rowing machine from the company that made one of the most popular exercise bikes of the pandemic. We also talk sustainable clothing from a sports brand, ultra-soft seating from a popular furniture company, and rosemary-infused olive oil from a favorite Select brand.

New this week

  1. Amazon has announced four new types of Fire tablets available for pre-order: the Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Plus, Fire HD 8 Kids, and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro. According to Amazon, the first two models have fast processors and the Plus supports wireless charging. Both Kids tablets come with a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, which provides access to games, books, and more.
  2. Peloton released the Peloton Row, which is available to pre-order now. The rowing machine, which folds for compact storage, features a 23.8-inch screen to follow the workout (led by peloton coaches, of course). It also has a “Form Assist” program that tracks your progress to improve your form.
  3. Puma introduced a line of sustainable athleisure, accessories and footwear called the Re:Collection. The line includes training leggings, bucket hats and more made from 20% to 100% recycled materials.
  4. Popular furniture brand Burrow debuted the ultra-plush Union seating collection, which includes sofas, loveseat, corner sofas, armchairs and ottomans. According to Burrow, the fabric is stain-resistant and easy to clean. (Plus, there’s free shipping.)
  5. Brightland, who make one of our favorite olive oils, have added a new flavor to their range: AURORA Rosemary Flavored Olive Oil. Brightland says it has “woody notes” of periwinkle, sage and pine, and a “peppery” finish.

What we bought this week

I’m the biggest sucker when it comes to Instagram promotions — especially when it comes to cat toys. So when I saw the Leo’s Paw interactive bird simulation cat toy, I immediately added it to my shopping cart. It comes with a stand that sticks to flat surfaces. Also, there is a bird at one end that my cat Wanda likes to hit. This toy kept her entertained for hours. I will definitely be giving it to other cat moms this holiday season. — Zoe MalinAssign update editor

I recently bought the Airlift Energy Short from Alo Yoga and I love it. They feel so light on my skin and the material is quite breathable which is ideal for a pair of cycling shorts that are very tight fitting. I would buy them in any color and length if I could. — Rebecca Rodriguezeditorial staff
