Columbia Pike’s Paws on the Pike pet show returns this weekend after having been practically last year.
The Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO) event, which is already in its fourth year, will take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Centro Arlington Apartments (950 S. George Mason Drive).
It will feature a mix of pet-friendly activities and a meet-and-greet to help locals connect with nearby pet service providers and vendors.
For those starting to worry about what to do with their pets on vacation, the fair gives locals a chance to hang out with pet sitters and boarding school students.
Pets are given up for adoption by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington and other rescue organizations.
“Join us for a day of pet-friendly fun and meet your local vets, trainers, pet sitters, boarders, dog walkers, groomers and more,” said the CPRO on their website. “Find your friend forever from a local animal shelter or stock up on homemade treats, there is something for every pet parent.”
Scheduled activities include a “pup arazzi” photo shoot with a professional photographer who will take free portraits of pets. Pet owners must register in advance for a photo shoot.
There will also be a DJ and “water bar” so pets can sample a variety of different types of water. At 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ashley Goff of the Arlington Presbyterian Church will be on site to bless pets with a short prayer.
