COBB COUNTY, GA – The newest member of the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office is not the usual one.
Cobb DA Flynn Broady was inspired by the efforts of the Northeast Cobb Business Association’s 5K-9 event to find a comfort dog for the office. Ultimately, the Pups with a Purpose program and Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office donated Rose, a comfort dog, to the Cobb DA’s office to help crime victims in court, according to a press release.
Pups with a Purpose is a program that matches Forsyth County Prison inmates with volunteer citizen dog trainers and dogs from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. As inmates gain social and professional skills, the shelter dogs are given a second chance to find a home.

Rose received special training from Scot Rucker with Rucker Dog Training.
“When children were exposed to a comfort dog, the disclosure rate rose from 30 percent to 68 to 70 percent,” said Ron Freeman, Forsyth County sheriff. “We have seen firsthand crime victims under such stress and strain being introduced to the dog and seeing their emotions subside before sitting in a courtroom.”

“Child sacrifices will have the opportunity to have Rose with them to reassure them and reassure them that they are in a safe place so that they can tell their story and not be afraid of what will happen if they tell it,” said Broady.
On YouTube you can see Rose being picked up for her new assignments.
