Shih Tzu: Dog Show Attracts Many Animal Lovers | Thiruvananthapuram News

Thiruvananthapuram: When S. Baluprathap wanted to give his pregnant wife a Shih Tzu puppy 5 years ago, he was insulted by a dog breeder because of his financial instability in caring for this breed. After the incident, he quit his job at a private company and went into business for himself to make more money. As a result, he bought six Shih Tzu puppies and one of them named Taylor makes Baluprathap proud at all the dog competitions.
His pet was a star at the 42nd international competition organized by the Trivandrum Kennel Club at Greenfield Stadium, Karyavattom, which ended here on Sunday.
Since the Rottweiler breed is in great demand among dog lovers, the first day of the fair was dedicated to them. . The show featured more than 50 Rottweilers across the country. Competitions were held in different categories including smaller puppies, puppies, junior, intermediate, breed in India, champion class and a special category to find the best among champion dogs.
“Due to Covid we have not been able to run the show for the last two years. But we are happy to report that people who are not knowledgeable in this field are visiting the show and learning more about the varieties of dog breeds and their characteristics,” said Satheesh Kumar, Secretary General of the Trivandrum Kennel Club.
More than 350 dogs from 45 breeds took part in the competition. Foreign dog breeds, including St. Bernard, Rottweiler, Shih Tzu, Great Dane, Akita, German Shepherd, Pitbull, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Boxer, Husky, Pug, Spitzspitz, Cocker Spaniel, Basset Hound, Chow-Chow and Doberman Pinscher, will be exhibited their physical characteristics showed the Indian races like Chippiparai, Kanni and Rajapalayam their strength and quickness of mind.
