A service dog named Oso has been melting hearts online after a video of him waking up in a panic after losing sight of his owner due to an accidental nap at work went viral on social media.
The clip, shared on TikTok by the dog’s owner on Monday under the username Osotheservicedog, shows Oso curled up in a deep sleep before his eyes open and he realizes he’s lost sight of his owner, a disabled army veteran. The dog gets up quickly and looks everywhere for its owner.
The post includes a caption reading, “If you’re a service dog, fall asleep and lose your human” and “Panic!”

It is estimated that approximately 61 million adults in the United States live with a disability, and there are approximately 500,000 service dogs nationwide, according to ShareAmerica.com.
Professional trainers working in specialized facilities can charge up to $40,000 to train a service dog, and training takes about three years. But not all dogs are suitable for the job, even 50 to 70 percent of candidates do not complete the training.
There are different types of service dogs – guide or service dogs, which are trained to assist blind or partially sighted people; hearing or signal dogs trained to warn deaf people; and psychiatric support dogs trained to help people with mental disabilities and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
There are also sensory signal dogs or social signal dogs (SSigDOG) that help people with autism. And seizure dogs trained to help people with seizure disorders.
The post quickly attracted animal lovers from across the platform, garnering over 1.7 million views and 253,900 likes so far.
